Community Gardens
In the spring you can sponsor garden patches in Vancouver.
Usually corners of neighbourhood streets, you get a bit of city money and do with it what you will.
My neighbourhood has them, a walk is more enjoyable with flowered sidewalks.
What is planted varies and quite honestly so does the amount of attention that is paid to them as summer arrives.
In the sponsor’s defence few people would carry buckets of water any significant distance.
Since it is unlikely your flower patch is close to a hose the freshness fades.
It would be lovely if the city took on more responsibility for this type of beautification.
Maybe just scattering wildflower seeds along the curb grass.
Unfortunately people getting out of their cars would probably stomp on the flowers.
It’s also possible they would need to exit on the passenger side to avoid the buzzing bees.
If I am voting pollinator attracting flowers should be given a chance, but then again I have underground parking.
New post every Wednesday.
Always short, sometimes funny, possibly relatable.
